It occurs to me that it is long overdue that I thank you formally for everything you do for the Kent Good Times Dispatch, The Lions Club, Kent Affordable Housing and the myriad other ways in which you serve our community of Kent, Connecticut. For the KGTD, your brilliant creation of the interactive website and social media presence has put this venture on the map. Your contributions are unique and essential to the success of resurrecting the newspaper.

It is not just your tech skills and insights that distinguish you though, Jonathan, but also your commitment, verve and alacrity. You are always unfailingly eager to step into the breach and apply your talents and make a difference for all involved. Thank you.

Now you and I must make time for me to engage you in refreshing my professional website and social media accounts as you have done for so many of your clearly gratified commercial clients.

To Whom It May Concern

Jonathan Matson is an essential member of the Board of Directors of Kent News, Inc., which was established to bring back the towns newspaper, the Kent Good Times Dispatch. Essential might sound a bit over the top so I looked up some synonyms: vital, indispensable, important, crucial, critical, needed, and necessary. Every one of those words applies.

Since joining our Board in the summer of 2022 Jonathan has take on the roll of Tech Advisor. Well a bit more than advisor. He IS our Tech person. The one who understands the intricacies of setting up Google Drive so we can share information (and teaching this old, un-techy person how to use it), providing all of our Executive Board members with a business email so our personal emails aren’t mixed in and adding an account just for the business.

He took us online, creating a website that will eventually be home to an online newspaper. He has also set up an online calendar of events that will be managed by a volunteer that Jonathan will train!

As soon as we were a 501(c)(3) he immediately switched our online donation page from that of our fiscal sponsor (something he had set up with them first) and had it ready to use before we finished our board meeting and in time for a presentation we were giving a few days later. The account includes credit card processing, sending acknowledgement letters to donors, our Privacy policy (which he wrote for us) and finding the company that provided us with the services we need at a reasonable cost.

Jonathan is our “go to” guy and we keep him busy. He is always patient with questions, takes time to explain the unknowable (to me anyway) and is always professional.

Jonathan worked collaboratively with the Kent Lions to establish our first website! He was very responsive to our needs and created a dynamic and interesting platform. It was great to have him pave the way for us to take this important step for our organization.

We elected to sell our house ourselves without the assistance of real estate agents, thus saving $31,800.00 in commissions. The home was built in 1894 in the Queen Anne cottage style that John Roberts, a Burlington builder, popularized.

Matson & Associates was an enthusiastic partner in the project since it was the first time for each of us. It was a true collaboration with us sharing ideas on a prototype that clearly can be used again. Jonathan made many suggestions that were included in the final website. Prospective buyers were greatly impressed with the website and the information made available to them. We had many inquiries. The website allowed the potential buyers to focus their attention on their needs.

The marketing efforts were capped off with an open house that resulted in two offers, which allowed for the acceptance of an offer $30,000 greater than the asking price.
